Development
With strong support from the municipal party committee and government, the construction of the new Fuyang Museum began in March 2017, with a total investment of 570 million yuan. The new museum is located in the southern urban area, to the west of Zhongqinghe Road and north of Balisun Road, with a construction area of approximately 39,000 square meters. Of this, the above-ground area is 29,684.7 square meters, the underground area is 9,000 square meters, and the exhibition hall covers 11,400 square meters. The museum will display over 2,000 cultural relics, including an underground storage area, a four-story exhibition hall, and an exterior design symbolizing “Stone Opening, Jade Revealed.”
In the second half of 2021, the new museum began its exhibition layout. The museum's exhibition area is divided into three floors: the first floor contains temporary exhibitions and a multimedia interactive hall; the second floor showcases the general history of Fuyang; and the third floor is dedicated to four thematic exhibitions. The new museum highlights the cultural characteristics of Fuyang and key historical moments, extracting cultural symbols from important artifacts. Through the use of interactive technology, it aims to bring the exhibits to life. To truly understand a city, the best way is to start with its museum, as a city's history and culture are preserved within it. Fuyang Museum's new building will be the first smart museum in northern Anhui, allowing static artifacts to come to life and "speak."
